How to Care for Me?
Hawthorn grows best in full sun and well-drained soils, but tolerates urban conditions once established. Full sun promotes the best flowering, fruit production, and fall color. Water regularly during the first 2–3 years to establish a healthy root system. After establishment, it is moderately drought-tolerant and generally requires supplemental watering only during prolonged dry periods. Prune in late winter to remove dead, damaged, or crossing branches.
